While it is true that Google loves blogs, it is also true that it is only one of many factors influencing rankings (some say 200)  in the search result page. Also, maintaining a blog is rather difficult for 99% of dentists who also happen to work at their chair, manage HR and make all the decisions for the clinic. In your case, blogging may be a hobby for for most others, it would be hard work.

SEO for dentistry is not a do it yourself activity unless you are willing to settle for lukewarm success.
